I was born in Houston, TX back in 1960. Have lived in Texas most of my life. My family moved around a lot however, living in Post, Corpus Christi, Uvalde, Moore, Persall, Carrizo Springs, and finally landed in Austin before I graduated from LBJ High School back in 1979 and went off to college. We did live one year outside of Texas, however, when I was too young to remember it; Hobbs, NM, just across the boarder.
While in high school, I came to a point that I saw my need to come to Jesus Christ and repent of my sins. That was the beginning of a life long relationship with Him, and has continued through to this day. I joined the Nazarene Church back in 1976 and eventually felt a call to the ministry. When I left Austin to go to college, I ended up at the denomination's college, Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, OK. At the time, however, it was called Bethany Nazarene College. I graduated with a BA in religion. During that time, I also found Lenita Eby, who eventually became my wife. We were married in 1982. In 1989, after a time of searching, and working at various odd jobs, one of my favorites being a gas measurement company, I finally left for Kansas City, MO and attended the Nazarene Theological Seminary. While there I worked for a bank in their proof department and did quite a bit of looking for errors in massive deposits. After three years going to school part time, I ended up leaving school early and went to pastor a mission church in southern Missouri, in a town of 1000 called Noel tucked away in the southwest corner of Missouri, south of Joplin. After spending two years there, I took a pastorate in Weslaco, TX where I resided for one and a half years.
During that time, I began what became one of my main hobbies, which is writing. I began a devotional service, sending out devotions via e-mail about once a month. You can read these at my Devotional Web Page . You can also visit my page on Orthodox Christianity which I am the webmaster of. Aside from joining in discussions and singing, I enjoyed exploring the Bible and applying it to life.
It was also during my time there that I became interested in the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church. This is a church whose foundations go back to the Apostles, and who have kept intact many of the traditions and teachings of the Apostles. I felt a need to pursue this in a much more in depth manner than I could as a pastor, so I resigned my pastorate and moved back to Austin, my old homestead. I formally joined the Orthodox Church in 1996 and have faithfully attended St. John the Forerunner Orthodox Church since then.
Since coming to Austin, I have worked at a bank, Logos Bookstore as bookkeeper, Jagger Scored Stained Concrete, Inc. and now run this business full time. I've worked with some CPA's, mostly with Stevalyn Henderson, CPA. I've also been the treasurer for our church, and bookkeeper of our church's bookstore, Christ the Lightgiver Bookstore. I've since moved to Marble Falls, TX where I currently reside.
Other hobbies that I've had over the years have been tennis, photography, family and writing. I also participate in a few e-mail list. My other main love is church services, which is more than a hobby to me. I have three kids currently, who are all home schooled. For further info on myself, you can go to my personal web page.
